Why is my 401k plan maintains the reduction despite tremendous economic growth?

By my calculations are worh 100 oz troy ago 8 years, and today is worth only 35 oz and keeps decreasing. And I do not want to even try to convert to oil, aluminum, or euros. That would be too horrible
