INVESTMENT QUESTION: What investments out there right now will survive a stock market crash?

I family member of mine has come into some significant change ($$$) selling a piece of real estate. This individual is thinking about investing most of the money in a Roth IRA AFTER the decision is made by congress on the crap bailout. I’m against the bailout personally but know very little about IRA’s. Basically, does anyone have experience or feedback in this matter concerning IRA’s? Will a Roth IRA survive a crash? Should this individual pursue investments in silver or gold? Personally I hear silver and gold are good investments. Anyway, this individual will more than likely do what they want to do, but I was curious and thought I would ask the general public and hopefully get some sincere, worthy responses. Thanks!

Most of the financial stocks have already tanked, but it is important to see that not all stocks suffer equally. The billionaire Warren Buffett saw something he liked about Goldman Sachs. I believe that gold and silver will do very well for the forseeable future because of raging inflation. Various stocks of well-run companies will do well, if I only had the good judgement to pick ‘em.
